Big Scott's Blue Angel Panhead

Some bikes do all the talking for their owners. Big Scott's Blue Angel is just such a machine. Originally built in 1966 or '67 for stunt work in the biker flick "Wild Angels," Scott's period perfect panhead is a time machine from a bygone era when men were men and women were decorations. Ah, the good old days…

As serendipity would have it, Scott's Blue Angel never saw any time on celluloid. Instead, it stayed locked away in the Movieland Wax Musuem in Buena Park, CA, ten miles northeast of Scott's Huntington Beach home. When the musuem closed down, some dude from the midwest bought the bike and shipped it back to restoration guru Jim Long. How Scott eventually got his hands on this machine is a mystery, but there's nothing mysterious about the Blue Angel. As '60s choppers go, this one is perfect in every detail. Take a look at its specs:

• 1950 FL frame with stock rake

• Wassel ribbed fender

• stock big twin springer

• Cool old headlight

• Stock 16" rear wheel with star hub, mechanical brakes and 500-16 Coker blackwall

• 21" front wheel with star hub, stock brake and Avon Speedmaster 300-21 tire

• Tall ass sissy bar

• Tall risers AND apes

According to Scott, this bike represents the simplicity and essence of the 60's chopper. Riding the Blue Angel is like living in the past—something Scott says he finds himself doing more and more with each passing year.

Any last words? "I don't like fur, I've never had a chopper with a horn, I love upsweeps, and I'm not sure if the vibrator bar works."
