I’ve covered the Strange Days show for ChopCult for the past few years. As always, Ken Buongiorno, event organizer and long-time motorcycle enthusiast, and his team always put together a great time. The eighth year for the show was no exception. Held again at the Oakland Valley Speedway in Cuddebackville, NY, Strange Days provided the racing, choppers, music, and party we wait for every summer.
The weekend started out with flattrack races on Friday night, followed by a bonfire, live music, and camping. The party started up again on Saturday morning with the live music beginning around 11 am. Since there was some sketchy weather on Friday night, some races were postponed and picked up on Saturday morning. The Northeast-in-July weather quickly kicked in and it turned out to be a hot one. It didn’t take long for some of the party to move to the nearby river. The rest of the afternoon was a constant flow of choppers, music, and partying.
The 2019 Strange Days is coming up on July 12th-14th, so make sure you check it out. The party will once again feature a number of rad bands entertaining the crowd all day and into the evening. You can look at the list of bands on their website, https://strangedaysevent.com/. Show awards will take place at 7 pm on Saturday followed by the bike, this year a 1972 HD Sportster, giveaway. Follow Strange Days on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
Kenny is gearing up the Jam for the 2019 season, and you can get involved through his website. Be sure to give the Appalachian Moto Jam a follow on Facebook and Instagram.
