Bryan Berky, R.I.P.

On September 12, 2009, Staff Sargeant Bryan D. Berky of Melrose, Florida, was killed in action while serving his country in Afghanistan. BryanEOD leaves behind a wife, Erin, and son, Harrison. Bryan's friend and fellow ChopCult member Walkingblind started a memorial thread in the main forum for sharing thoughts and prayers.

A thorough report of Bryan's service to his country and the circumstances leading to his untimely passing can be found in the Rapid City, SD, newspaper where Bryan's unit was stationed in the US.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Bryan's wife, child, family and friends.

PayPal donations can be sent to until the end of the September. At that time we will consolidate the money and get it to Bryan's family as a show of support from the ChopCult community. Also, Billdozer has started an auction in the forum, where you can bid on some old parts and the proceeds will be 100% donated to the Berky family. You can participate in that here: AUCTION

Godspeed, BryanEOD…

Those EOD guys are hard core. We have a detachement here in Hawaii and they are always training. This guy was a true hero. Not many can have the honor to give their life for their country.

May his family know in their hearts that this man gave every bit of his mind and body to protect all of you so sacred in his heart. God bless him and his near and dear family.

Really sorry to hear about the loss. A buddy of mine was an EOD expert in the army and its a crazy path to walk. His stories of working on half ton explosives would rattle your nerves to pieces.

Bryan was a fantastic EOD technician, Husband, Father, and friend. He was kind, funny, brave, and loving. He will be missed so very much! People may not agree in the war...but you have to remember, we have loved ones over there, giving their lives. Whether they beleive in the cause or not. Our soldiers do not get thanked enough.
RIP Bryan, I will miss you terribly! Everyone will.
