Bacon!

So, I figured If I was gonna be at the biggest hot rod show in the country, I'm sure I'd see some motorcycle booths. And since it's Austin, I figured my buddy Bacon would be there. Sure enough, I spotted the DC Choppers bikes from the coffee vendor's airstream trailer. If you don't know Dan "Bacon" Carr then you won't understand just the kind of man he is. The Canadian James Dean as I like to think of him, Bacon is a motor-building mad man and builds some of the coolest choppers around thanks to his buddy that works with him ________ (totally forgot his name). Bacon is currently US distributor for Motortechnic Manufacturing, a Germany company that makes knucklehead cases, as well as some bitchin clutch hubs. Dan even put us up in his shop for the nite so we wouldn't have to sleep in a tent, and then introduced us to Opies BBQ- If you are ever in Spicewood, TX, you HAVE to eat there. Get the brisket, it's unreal!

Now, the bikes.
Yes, that is a radiator on the frame...

I believe this was the Drake kit, water-cooled knuckle.

Elf's slipper frame.

Tidying up

2020 sucked. Don't get me wrong, there were some good things about it, but it was bad for motorcycle-related stuff.  Most events were cancelled, blah blah blah...  I don't have to tell you.  You know.

Anyway, I went to my first motorcycle event in over a year yesterday (Polar Devils Vintage Racing) and have the itch to post some photos because I took a ton.   Look for those over the coming days.  The blog has not been well maintained (obviously) and probably won't be again.  It's extremely time consuming.

If you want current stuff, just follow me on Instagram (@gophersandcheese) or Facebook.  That said, this blog remains a great place to archive and organize large groups of photos from past events so you may still see a rare post here and there (no promises).  If you want to relive local events from 5-10 years ago, then look no further - this is the spot.

The store (Cheese Shop) is closed for now so I removed the links.  If you just can't live without a t-shirt or some of the stickers I used to sell, contact me.  If you would like to purchase any full-resolution, non-watermarked digital versions of the photos on my site, that can always be arranged too.

As for the blog, you might notice it looks a lot different now.  It needed a refresh.  I finally switched over to the Dynamic View template.  I love the "infinite scrolling" and it makes it very easy to find some fun and nostalgic blogposts from the past.  You can change the layout too (I prefer "Magazine").  Hope you like it.  As a reminder, here's how it used to look:
