Sturgis 50th Anniversary v. Sturgis 75th Anniversary

Last year I visited the Devils Tower National Monument and had the opportunity to notice a poster hanging next to the Ice Cream shop in the Devils Tower Trading Post. Although I didn't get a picture of it at the time, I then asked if anyone was going to Sturgis next year (2016, this year) to please take a couple shots of this poster for me. Huge thanks to Jessica @Playfulplumeria for taking these shots of that poster (even with the glare) THANK YOU!

Here's a quick observation; Sturgis in 1990 v. Sturgis 2015

The most noticeable differences?

(aside from the lack of Baggers in 1990, you might count maybe a few...)

The complete lack of corporate footprints in 1990...

~ versus ~

The diarrhea of advertising 2015

People have different opinions on the current ever increasing ever marginalizing corporate involvement-infiltration involved in motorcycle(s) "profiteer" events/etc., but if you have any question as to my opinion, it's this:

FUCK YOUR CORPORATE SPONSORS

We didn't need them before (as is evident) and YOU really don't need them now.

Support Grassroots

Refuse and Resist

DO IT YOURSELF

Eliminate the Corporate Agendas

Make Friends Not Fans

Here's something new from Lowbrow Customs

The Rogue Rear Fender: A Bolt-On Alternative for Harley-Davidsons

Lowbrow Customs has designed and produced a custom rear fender that will bolt in place on Harley-Davidsons spanning almost 30 years. The heavy-duty construction, quality, and ease of install makes it an instant classic on custom Panhead and Shovelhead motorcycles.

The Rogue Fender from Lowbrow Customs is a heavy-gauge, steel fender that is bolt-on fitment to 1958 - 1984 Harley-Davidson Big Twins using the included chrome plated fender struts and mounting hardware. Instead of the typical choice to run a stock rear fender or a repop stock rear fender, you can now add some custom style to your moto with ease. Whether a mild custom, chopper or race-inspired performance machine, the Rogue Fender looks right at home while standing up to the rigors of the road. People seem to feel the same way based on testimonials received from Lowbrow customers:

"Built right! The UPS man handed me a heavy box which had me thinking I ordered the wrong item. Negative!! It was the right thing. This fender is no lightweight POS fender. Very thick and substantial. For the people still dedicated to these old gems this is the perfect fender upgrade." - Packrat

"Fit and finish of the fender and brackets is top quality. There was no half way here. Quality is excellent. You definitely get what you paid for." - B. Dub

Lowbrow Customs is based in Brunswick, Ohio, USA and has been at the forefront of design in custom motorcycle parts for bobbers and choppers since 2004. The Rogue Fender is just one more unique component that Lowbrow has designed and produced for the ever-popular vintage Harley-Davidson. Panhead pictured built by The Gasbox.

Darryl Starbird Museum (pt. 3/3)

More cars (on loan) inside the Darryl Starbid Museum (LINK HERE) in Afton Oklahoma. Definitely worth a visit if you're anywhere near it. Take the time and make the stop, you won't be disappointed if you're into the history of and kustom car builds. He's done a great job of filling the museum with more original photography, exhibits (wall displays), and cars then you'd find at most places guaranteed. I'd rank this right up there with the Kustom / Roth collection at Galpin Motors in Van Nuys.

Darryl Starbird (pt.1/3)

Located in Afton Oklahoma the Darryl Starbird National Rod and Custom Car Hall of Fame Museum immediately caught my attention. Taking a lesson learned from our previous ( @wussarmy ) Kit's Kulture Rides, we immediately made a bee line for the museum while crossing the country this summer. ...And it was well worth it. The museum housed over 50 custom vehicles, most from Darryl Starbirds custom shop build decades ago and preserved in their prime! Absolutely amazing.
