Many things at Daytona Bike Week are not to my taste. But there is always one place that I know enduring the crowds will be worth it. That place is The Old School Bike Show at Willie's Tropical Tattoo! I had the pleasure of shooting the event for Chop Cult again this year and was not disappointed. I have a well-known soft spot for machines with alternative power plants. This year there was some pretty radical stuff including a water-cooled Knucklehead and H2 Triple digger.
As usual, getting there was half the fun. I shared truck and trailer duties with the “Reverend Tommy Gunn” from Freak Show Deluxe. We were helping out our friends at Led Sleds Customs by hauling the booth and a bike down since Pat and the Led Sleds Crew were busy on a filming project. That “stick together, help each other out” mentality is a big part of the Grassroots scene. Willie’s is definitely the nucleus of that spirit at Daytona Bike Week. The Old School Bike show is where you get to catch up with friends, magazine editors, professional builders, and average Joe's all crammed together for one heck of a party and bike show. Here are some shots for those of you that missed it. If you get the chance, this event is truly worth attending! The chopper nut energy is like nowhere else.
Til next time, keep it between the ditches and the shiny side up.
