SoCal's Hell on Wheels MC hosted a "run what you brung" vintage scramble, hotrod show and pin-up contest on the dusty desert floor of Lake Elsinore Motocross Park June 5th. Despite the oppressive heat, hundreds of area chopperheads rode vintage iron to and around the MX park for what proved to be a really good time.
Classes for racing were something like, Vintage Mini Bike, Mini Bike, Vintage MX, Hooligan and Modern MX. The most serious class seemed to be the mini bikes. There were some big dudes on tiny bikes tearing it up! Cool trophies were handed out for each class, and the winner in each category also got a bottle of whiskey donated and decorated by one of the sponsors, hence the name "Whiskey Challenge."
As the evening cooled down the pin-up pageant hit full swing and about a dozen lovely ladies paraded around in corsets and fishnets, much to the crowd's delight. After sunset the fire pit lit up and the remaining campers partied until they passed out, at which point a girls-on-dude beatdown broke out around 3 a.m. and everyone woke up. Now that's a party!
See what other ChopCult members had to say about this day in the dirt in the Events forum.
I swear I must live in a bubble! How come I knew nothing about this event?! I've been trying to do something like this for years. Oh well next year I guess.
Dale... you are invited to next years event... bakersfield is only a few hours drive... you can come down Friday camp out and hed back Sunday...
Bring a dirtbike and some booze... can't go wrong...
Tuscon.... here we come... but seriously we will ahve to do it like in January or something... if you want to help coordinate it we just might want to put one on...
Those are great pics. There were also a lot of great machines that didn't make it into the picture gallery because they were moving in and out and it would be impossible to get them all. There was also no end to the colorful characters who showed up and lent a festive air to the goings on. I had a great time and would like to say thanks to whoever put this event on.
Hello Chop Cult... thanks so much for the great write up and all of the incredible photos... Meatball and I want to thank everyone who came out and helped make this so much fun...
Years ago when we were doign the vintage racing in Ahrma etc... we woudl sit around afterward listen to Lucky brag about how he was kind of keeping Dave Aldana in site for a lap or two... (but it was after Aldana already lapped him..) we came up with the idea to have a race where each lap you had to stop and take a shot... thus the mythical Whiskey Challenge was spawned... it took about 10 years and we were all getting old and figured we we better get to it... And even though no one was (supposed to be) drinking before hitting the track... we did have each sponsor and club pony up a bottle of Whiskey to be given out with trophies. Car show and Bike Show winners got one too.
in any case I want to say thanks for everyone who came out and who helped make it happen... and also to point out that Meatball loses money on these each year... so help him out by going to his website (www.hellonwheelsmc.com) and buying something from him... check out the video from the 2009 rally... T-shirts and Posters of this event are available too.
As for next year.... we are looking at Bigger and better... we have some more clubs committed to help put it together... and it will be cooler when or where we end up holding it... check out the blogspot http://hellonwheelsmc.blogspot.com/ for info on the next Hell On Wheels event we are doing... July 9th and 10th in San Diego...
THANKS AGAIN...
OK that was goose... and he is one of the original Hell On Wheels team... He is also a brilliantly creative belt maker... so check out some of his stuff... at our rallies and check out Nogooders.com
