The Panheads of Born Free 3

By now practically everyone on the innerwebs has heard that Born Free 3 was the show of the year. With tons of great bikes, mellow vibes and good times all around, BF3 was everything a custom motorcycle show should be. Arguably the most iconic of H-D engines, the venerable panhead was well represented in the grass field reserved for the bike show. Just about every pan on display was ridden in, some for very long distances. Many were stock or close to it, and still others were classic choppers, but all of them were worthy of a closer look. The sheer number of panbheads at BF3 was overwhelming, and I'm sure we missed plenty. Here are some pics of the ones that caught our attention.

Stay tuned for CC features on knuckleheads, Jap bikes and much more from BF3 in the weeks to come.

If you've got pics of your own, please feel free to post them in the CC events forum here.

I hope someday a show like this can be closer to Florida.

Mind blowing experience seeing all those pans in one place. Born Free has rapidly grown to be the best builders show going. I went to the first one, missed the second, and just about lost my head at the third... keep it up!!!!

picture 12 and 16 are the born free pan from last year, the pipes give it away for sure. Tim has all the stuff to go back to the original combination but wanted to make it his, so he changed a few things up. It's still a really cool bike, in a sea of really cool bikes!

I busted my ass for three months getting my bike finished. The day of the show I was ready to head out around 3:30 pm to at least catch some of the action. As fate would have it, my brother in laws bike decided to die completely! I took it as a sign and decided not to go solo and fix his bike instead.Turned out to be a blessing in disguise, turns out that running a suicide clutch and jockey takes some getting used to haha. Next year I will have time to spare and nothing will stop me from heading out there and making some friends.Working on my bike by myself is not as much fun as having someone to drink a beer with share the work. I'm exhausted for now and all I can do is wait for pictures to show up and think of what a great show I missed.

DripShovel, i think you are talking about Jason Craze's pan from eternal combustion....... that was one of the greatest motorcycles at this show, it should have gotten more attention in my opinion. By for the greatest motorcycle show and 4000 mile trip I have ever been on. thanks
