Road to Valhalla is an annual event to raise money for Rose’s Rescue Animal Shelter organized and thrown by some Ohio boys that call themselves "The Spuds" (Kevin and Clint Spence, Jon Russell and Eric Ross). This was the second year for this event and it was bigger and better then the last. Where else can you get crazy wasted, camp, win some gnarly sponsors' goods, and do some fire surfing all while donating money that you were going to drink away anyway to help dogs get rescued.
The ride to the Iron Horse Saloon, which is located in Troy Township, was probably my favorite part of the whole day. I was so excited waiting for everyone to show up to my house and full with anticipation to get some riding shots of everyone. It was such a beautiful day and I couldn't have asked for a more exciting ride with the 15 of us to share. My adrenalin was pumping so much while shooting and riding on the highway. It felt like when I first learned to ride my motorcycle — scary, intimidating and damn fun!
On arriving to the Iron Horse Saloon we pulled in to the parking lot full of bikes where people of all ages congregated around us looking to see what new machines have arrived. Our Columbus friends rode in shortly after with all of them winning the fictitious award for “most break downs in a group in one trip”. Everything and anything you could think of had happened to those dudes that Saturday. I'm just glad everyone made it one piece. As the night fell, parts of it became hazy due to the 32oz. PBR cans that were floating around, but I do remember Bear from (Old Bike Barn) flying around the two bonfires on his bike, girls dumping em out, and some gnarly burnouts in the parking lot.
Overall the event was a ton of fun and "The Spuds" helped raise a lot of money to help out Rose's Dog Rescue. I love how this summer has been shaping out to be and I'm glad I could help support my friends’ good cause all while having fun on my motorcycle and partying with some of my favorite people. Make sure if you are near northern Ohio in late August to look up Road to Valhalla 2014, it's definitely a good time for a great cause!
