Pat Patterson's Shovelhead

Word on the street is Pat Patterson likes to party. I didn't get a chance to share a drink with the man, but after seeing the motorcycles this one-time long-haul trucker designs, builds and paints in-house at his Led Sled Customs shop in Dayton, Ohio, I'd have glady sprung for the first round. You see, Pat was among the first in a growing line of custom fabricators who are unapologetic about their love for late-model Sportsters. I'm a fan of the MoCo's girl's bike, too, so I wanted to see what Pat has up his sleeve.

This shovel doesn't fall into Pat's usual oeuvre, and that's why it caught my eye last month in Daytona. Grab a cocktail and take a sip of some sweet rust belt engineering, Pat Patterson style.

Visit the spec sheet for the Mercury bike on the Led Sled website.

I love this bike! Haven't had a chance to see it in person but I remember the write up in Cycle Source a few years back. Very cool accent pieces!!!

I'm not particularly a fan of the leaf spring front end, but on this bike it definitely works. Nice low slung bike that looks like it would make for some good cruisin.

Nice work.

Cheese as in the delicious food made from the mammary secretions of various animals, mostly indica strain, big cheese or money? Any way you look at it, nothing cheesy about this sled. Really dig everything about it

Pat had some really awesome Sportsters at the Limpnickie Lot last month but this bike was by far my favorite. I'm a big car nut too, so all the little automotive details won me over on this build. Keep it up Led Sled!

Im with ridemore16, saw this bike years ago in the source and have loved it ever since. It's very classy, original and not overdone.

If sporty nation were a church, Pat would be our Pastor. Lead on, brother!

I really dig the headlight placement on this merc. Pat and mike helped me out a shit load last year when my wheel chair broke at smoke out last year. His crew just happened to have an exta wheel chair! Kick ass dudes.

i like a builder who has enough confidence in their fab skills to let the custom one-off pieces blend in subtly with the bike as a whole. this thing screams class, and no one piece looks like it's trying to compete for attention. a functional showcase of skills that really comes together as unique scoot, without making the rider/owner look like they're compensating for a childhood of emotional that's a well conceived custom build! keep it up led-sledders!

That bike is great looking. Color scheme is great with the chrome accents and the gloss black with a powder blue. Too many details to list but you all can see them for yourself. Great job.

amazing attention to detail. I love those wooden grips. And the foot shaped clutch and brake pedals accent the floorboards perfectly.

Best "theme bike" ever. Nothing completely "over the top."
I am so glad there's no 300 on the back.
