Grassroots Preview: 2011 Greasebag Jamboree

After taking a one-year hiatus from promoting chopper hoedowns to develop a potentially unhealthy addiction to electric cigarettes, friend an fellow cyclephile Grail at Knucklebusters has resurrected his Greasebag Jamboree. The 2011 version of this popular grassroots events kicks off in Boston, Massachussetts, this Friday, and we'll be there to cover the whole shebang. Trust us when we say this: This year's Greasebag Jamboree is going to be wicked pissa.

Follow us now as Grail spells out the plan for this weekend's East Coast adventure, and enjoy the photos culled from previous Greasebag events.

The idea is fairly simple: get a bunch of crazed 2-wheel fanatics together for a long weekend of riding, camping, talking shop, telling tall tales, ogling home built death traps and all-out partying. Oh, and make it all free. Some might call it a 3-day bender. We call it the Greasebag Jamboree.

Here's the itinerary for this week's eagerly anticipated three-day event:

Friday, July 29: DicE Party

Location: The Baseball Tavern, 1270 Boylston St, Boston, MA

Time: 8:00 pm 'til closing

Bands: The Allstonians, The Egos, Larkin Brigade, Cradle to Grave, Riki Rocksteady plus R.J. Riel; three floors plus a roof deck overlooking the Boston Skyline. Plenty of 2-wheel parking Free Admission for the bar areas, small cover charge to see the bands

Saturday, July 30: Ride & Camp

Departure time: 11:30 am sharp

Jump-off point: Great Road Shopping Center on Rte 225 in Lexington, MA

Route Map:

Campground: Laconia White Birch Campground, 148 Bean Hill Rd, Belmont, NH

Camping Cost: $15 per person, free food and drink while supplies last, no reservations required

Sunday, July 30: Bike Show and Swap Meet

Time: 11:00 am till ?

Location: Acme Choppers, 14 Lexington Drive, Laconia NH

I’m not overstating anything when I say we couldn’t put on the show with out the help of our sponsors. Every year we’re humbled by the generosity of our community and their willingness to donate wares and dollars to make this possible. This year's event is going to be the best ever, and it wouldn't be possible without the generosity of these and many other supporters. Thanks for everything!

Man, I'm so stoked. The response this year has been out of this world. Weather is looking good so far, may be a little bit of rain Friday night, but the weekend is looking Sunny and in the 80s. The chopper gods are smiling on us.
