FOCUS: Slim's Nanook

Riverside Slim is as abstract, punk rock and unique as his handcrafted art bikes. Don't write him off as some limp-wristed sculptor. From chopping his early Chevy van, to building two-stroke crowd favorites or crafting tanks and bars, Slim does it all.

Slim is a friend/craftsmen/arteest in the true sense of the word. He'll always listen to my ideas, and politely add his two cents when he thinks (or knows) I'm wrong.Together we've come up with some cool ideas (when we doin' that Cuyuna powered minibike Slim?)

He's VERY reasonable, and isn't trying to get rich off his creations. He asks for honest pay, for honest work. What a concept ehh?

A word to the wise though...the crazier your vision the better for him and you. If you want him to copy someone else's shit you see here, a blog, or in a catalog, don't waste your's or his time.

When we work on my shit we hit the PBR's heavy, and work late into the night. The best ideas come from just doing, not over thinking...just fuck some shit up already!

Viva Slims Fab!

Avant garde bike building. Keep em coming! This could be the next bratstyle, people starting to build similar bikes and calling them "Slims styles" or something.

Commented on 10-13-2009 At 03:19 am

so sick. love his style, no matter how "odd" it is, it still makes sense. hopefully one day I will know my shit good enough to produce art like this in any form.

First time I seen Slims stuff was at the The Chop Meet. First thought
was "What the FUCK?" Then after musing and checking out the little
details, especially the totally one off exhaust pipes I realized the Dude
had something goin on. Super cool dude & You can tell He just loves what He's doing. Ge blew some minds at the SOW with His certifiably insane
lane splitter Trike. I wonder if He has any scars on them elbows.

What's the engine?

Commented on 10-13-2009 At 02:49 pm

I think the engine is out of a '70s Yamaha YZ390. Slim does lots of junkyard dog two-strokes, and they're as wacky and wild as this one. Good stuff, Wes—thanks for shooting Slim for CC.

Slim, good to see all the positive vibes comin your way my friend. Your skills and your ability to think outside of everyone's box's, scratch that, out of everyone's fuckin universe, are what drew me to your work the first time i met ya. I value your friendship and hope that all the things that really matter in life come your way. I'll ride with you peg to peg any fuckin day man and twice on sunday, you are the shit and you help me bring my twisted visions to life with your skills. Keep fuckin shit up right my brother, See you in Hell.
