Focus: Gilby's Pan

Share

Many a professional lush has lamented: "One drink's too many and ten isn't enough." Unrepentant chopper addicts can say the same thing about motorcycles. One such heavy tinkerer is Gilby Clarke. This is the second bike in Gilby's quiver we've featured on ChopCult, and one of the first this talented builder and musician is justifiably proud to say he built himself. Like a good drunk's cupboard, Gilby's garage is well stocked with potent iron. And like whiskey, once you get a taste for old motorcycles you just can't stop at one.

having to go thru a few surgeries to...get well soon!

Wow. Pretty clean. I wonder why one black grip?

Commented on 1-29-2010 At 09:20 am

The grips are clear. One is over black bar, the other over an aluminum throttle. Yeah, Gilby got hit on this bike coming home from Pamona. His buddy JD told me he's doing fine but just got through surgery this week. Gilby's one of my favorite riding buddies and an all around righteous guy. Hopefully he'll have a fast recovery and be back on the bikes soon.

That tank must make it fun riding in the California sun.

Wow, killer bike! That tank is just awe inspiring, fuckin awesome job. As we say in the Northeast, "that bike is wicked killa man!" hahahahaha

That bike is sexy as fuck. One day I hope to put enough funds together to be able to build a pan. Sexiest HD motor ever.

now thats chrome that should be on a bike. flashy but tasteful. not like these road kings that have chrome trim on everything chrome tape decks and chrome cup holders

very classy look, pulling off chrome sheet metal... thats some skill. how did the bike fair in his wreck? seems like everyone is getting hit lately !!!! best of luck on the recovery gilby.

thats a straight SFV pan...the best was watching Gilby and the 'StarFuckers' rip it up onstage and also watch Gilby watching the judges looking at his Pan whilst shredding!! Nice job dude...g$

Get well dude.

Hippy Killer? If so, I wondered what those grips looked like over different colour metals.

What I love about it is that if someone tried to describe this bike before it was built, I would have said, "That's got a good chance of looking overdone". And then to see it in person at the Dave Mann show, I thought the exact opposite. The chrome just looked like it belonged everywhere, and the bike came out class as hell.

Awesome job, get well and ridin' soon.

shiny metal has never looked so good

Killer bike!

But hey, is it just me or the background sized pic doesn't work? It would look rad on my desktop, y'know.

Get Well Soon!

Yes, Hippy Killer grips, etc. Sure is a fine pan. Very clean. Even better in person, but they always are. Looking forward to seeing you out and about Gilby. Heal quick.

this is just nit picking, and i apologize, but you shoulda cleaned the tires before the photo shoot. the pics are amazing, the bike is amazing, but my eyes keep looking at the mud in the treads for some reason...

Commented on 1-30-2010 At 02:08 am

Ha, ha. Thanks Olde Pro, but I'm not cleaning anyone's tires. We shoot runners not trailer queens here and once in a while there is some dirt or mud on them.

I'll look into why the last two "desktop" images are not loading. We had a software upgrade and it must have eaten them somehow.

Commented on 1-30-2010 At 02:13 am

Yeah, sorry fellas, on the desktop thing, that feature is going to be broken for a few articles until the new stuff is phased in over the next couple weeks. You'll like the upgrade because all the photos will be "clickable" to see a larger size and you won't have to scroll as much.

Thanks Bill.
Can't wait to see this bike in person. And with Gilby riding it.
Get well soon.

I just keep staring at this bike, wow is it nice. Didn't know that much chrome could look so good

Commented on 1-30-2010 At 12:15 pm

Super sweet bike! Heal fast from the wreck, I know getting banged up sucks.

Commented on 1-30-2010 At 03:47 pm

thanx chopcult for another bitchin' feature... the bike wasn't finished when i entered it in the show, but it was running. as you can tell, i was one the very few that rode their bike to the show. and since the show, i've cleaned the tires, got a black throttle body, painted it & then wrecked it !

i know it's only rock n' roll, but i like it !

Bill, just let me know next time you're shooting and I'll bring the rags for the tires, haha.....trust me I know its a runner and not a full on 'just for show bike'! and Gilby, get better man....heal up and keep on rocking.
