I met Rex Harris back in 2014 at Pinned Ohio in Columbus. We've stayed in contact here and there since then, mostly when seeing each other at events around the Midwest. It's always a pleasure to run into him, especially when it’s warm and he's on his bitchin’ Shovelhead. I fell in love with his bike the first time I laid eyes on it. And the story behind the bike’s life is just as rad. I was pumped to shoot his bike, and have wanted to do so since I first fell into the photography business. -Benny

Bike name: Cobra Awesome

Engine, year and make, model, modifications: 1981 Sturgis FXB 80" Shovelhead
Frame: Front half is stock - just smoothed out, the rear is an O.G. Papa Clutch bolt-on hardtail
Fork: A set of Forking by Frank’s 2” under tubes through some Custom Cycle Engineering 35mm chrome narrow trees

Tire/wheel size and style: Stock rear Sturgis mag wrapped in a 16" Shinko double white wall and a set of Front Street Cycles polished hub caps. Front wheel is a 21" TC Bros ball hub spool with an Avon Speedmaster (surprise).

Favorite thing about this bike: Favorite thing about the bike is that is was my father’s and he rode the shit out of it, and also that it has been redone several times and not sold.

Next modification will be: If anything, a foot clutch.

Other mods, accessories, cool parts, etc: As far as cool parts go, I had Seven Sins Choppers mold me a set of Lemon Lime Sublime grips and yellow fuel line. Grips were made to match the KILLER paint job layed down by world famous Darren Williams of Liquid Illusions of St. Louis. Sent Frank at Vicious Cycles some snakeskin and a fang and he cast them into this awesome points cover. Gabe over at After Hours made a set of BADASS "barely legal" taillights. Ditched the S&S teardrop air cleaner for a Boyle Custom Moto (BCM) Ribsey, super small air cleaner called for some extra carb support so i called Jed Smith for one of his polished Wizard Styx , and that's all i gotta say about that.

Any building or riding story or info you'd like to include: Nobody reading this has enough gigabytes or anti-virus software for the stories that go along with this bike. I just want to say that I am 100% thankful for every single person i have crossed paths with (even the assholes) - anyone that knows, follows, or has rode with me understands how much I love this shit! So let's just save the stories for the road and a campfire!!

Thanks to: First I want to thank my wife Laura, she is the most important part of all of this. Also wanna thank my mother and father (dad for getting me into this shitty sport), Mike Barr of Metal Brite for all the chrome and polishing, Derek of DS One Off for shaving my lowers, Nate and Steve at Sporty's, and Mike Stocker of the Cycle Shack; also Eric Mills, Amber Savage, David Crossley, and Jae Hamilton. Huge shout-out to Elisa and Bob Seeger Jr. for all their hard work with the Aidan Jack Seeger Foundation. If I forgot anyone, oh well, I still love ya!- Rex
